Need a bit of advice as to what I need to change my resource to.
My father is going to leave me a resource in his will, and I plan on getting artisan later once i swap out my combat skills i cant use and spend 2 xp.
But what resource? I plan it to be near Sarvos, if that helps. Not sure if there are lots of forests/mines near there. Having one in Holberg seems a daft idea, due to IC difficulties of getting to the bloody thing. Fekking Barbarians.
Also need ideas of what items would be useful for me to make when I get artisan. Tempted by the clothing/mage stuff.
A ship could be a useful resource, as the trade does bring a random haul of goods. Items not directly of use can be traded to raise income, or put into a general pool of Bellamarina trade goods (It's what I did with the vials of Iridescent Whatever I acquired through my military unit)
Ships are not random, military units are random. Ships get varied resources depending on which port you send them to. You should always be able to get at least some of what you need.
Ships are random, others will give you only one type of thing. If you plan to be an artisan, have a look at the things you'll likely be making and see what their main component is. Odds are having a resource solely dedicated to that material still wont give you enough to keep you fully employed each season. (the exceptions to this being a good idea are irridescent gloaming and dragon bone, there seems to be glut of those at the moment, but i suspect that can change quickly if a handful of people trade out their resources...)
Example: This season i'm making 2 suit of armour, it's costing me 60+ resources (over 30 of those are Orichalcum), and having blown 2 wains of marble, and a powerful ritual on upgrading my mine, I'm only getting 20 units of Orichalcum back. So i'm taking a loss of 10+ units of orichalcum as well as all the other stuff just to be busy for 2 months.
On a secondary note, if you want to learn magic items i'd recommend reading my list of what is currently available for sale in the League. i'll be posting that up here as soon as it's complete, I'm just waiting for a couple of trade houses to get back to me. Having more diversity is a good thing, and if it is ritual paraphernalia you're interested in then speaking to Carta Nocturo is a good starting point.
